• Filing and recording of various legal documents including deeds, mortgages and other documents pertaining to real estate.
• Recording of such documents give constructive notice to the public on how title is held and determines whether property is encumbered or not.
• Maintain various database indexes of recorded documents and filed documents such as plats, certified survey maps and condominium plats.
• The various indexes aid in searching for the buyer and seller of real estate or in the mortgagor or mortgagee of real estate. In addition, searches can also be made by legal description.
• Microfilming documents which have been recorded, enables the public to view and retrieve copies. Certified copies of Birth, Death and Marriage Certificates can be obtained from this office.
• All duties and fees are set per Wisconsin State Statute.
