Canal Park
Canal Park is Door County’s newest addition to the county park system, officially becoming our 21st park. Located along the historic Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal, this waterfront destination has been a longtime local favorite for its sweeping canal views, iconic lighthouse, and strong ties to the area’s maritime heritage.
A Historic Setting
The park sits beside the Sturgeon Bay and Lake Michigan Ship Canal—a remarkable engineering project built to create a safer, more direct connection between Green Bay and Lake Michigan. The canal played a major role in shaping Sturgeon Bay’s growth, supporting shipbuilding, commerce, and transportation.
A Community Favorite
Today, Canal Park offers a peaceful place to enjoy Door County’s shoreline. Visitors come to watch vessels move through the channel, cast a line along the water, or simply relax and take in the natural beauty that surrounds this historic waterway.
